“Cleverly bagged – from the can to the bag” – Award for SaluVet GmbH

In October, we received an award from the Baden-Württemberg Ministry for the Environment, Climate and Energy Management as a “Resource Efficiency Company” Since 2020, we have been operating a new bag filling machine, primarily for filling Bronch-Arom® B powder. Since then, the product is no longer filled in composite cans consisting of a compound of paper, aluminium, plastic and tinplate, but in a plastic bag. This saves 72,000 composite cans per year and thus 3 t of paper, 0.2 t of aluminium, 0.5 t of plastic and 1.7 t of tinplate. For the same amount of product, only 0.4 t of plastic and 0.2 t of paper are needed per year for the new packaging. Another advantage is that the one-component bag is easier to recycle and takes up less space for storage and transport: Instead of four truck deliveries with 48 pallets of cans each per year, we only need two pallets with the pouch film. Comparing the two packaging solutions along their life cycle results in savings of around 13 t CO2e.
